Saint George Church is a community of Christians that have gathered together from countries throughout the Middle East and have come to the United States seeking peace and religious freedom. Compared with most Roman Catholic churches our community is small, but our faith, nourished for 2000 years by our particular expression of Christianity, has been made strong after having been tested through the fire of persecution.
We are a vibrant community that dreams of a better future. Currently we gather together in an older small building which has served as our spiritual center for close to forty years. However, as more and more Christians flee from their country of birth and search for freedom and opportunity for themselves and their children, our numbers grow and our church building is no longer able to welcome the people who come to us.
Will you help us preserve our cherished forms of Middle Eastern Christianity for our children and for those who will come after us?
Currently our small church seats about ninety people but we regularly welcome between 120 – 140 people on Sunday. Our larger feast days like Palm Sunday, Christmas and Easter draw 200 or more.
We would like to find a church building that can provide space for persecuted Christians throughout the Sacramento metro area to worship within our apostolic tradition – a space where there is enough room for the elderly to find a seat.
Can you help us?
Our goal is to raise 1 million dollars as a foundation for the future. Anything you can do to help us is greatly appreciated.
